It takes a Village to Raise a Child program
“Omwana ni wa bhone,” which means “… regardless of a child’s biological parents, its upbringing belongs to the community,” serves as the basis for our “It Takes A Village To Raise A Child (ITAVTRAC) program.
Every month, our ITAVTRAC program will gather the entire community to formally recognize each child who happened to be born in that particular month. The people that make up the “community” include the child’s family, friends, fellow residents, and the staff of our partnered shelters. This is in addition to providing each child that happens to have a birthday during that month with a personalized Trina’s Birthday Box.
The “It Take A Village To Raise A Child” initiative seeks to inspire the community as a whole to assist and engage positively with children who are negatively impacted by domestic violence and homelessness so that they can be assured of positive experiences and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
Our flagship initiative, It Takes A Village To Raise A Child (ITAVTRAC), needs your help to get started. To run the program, we need money to buy tables, chairs, bounce houses, and other supplies. With the power of your pen, you have the immediate and direct opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of children residing in a homeless or domestic violence shelter by ensuring that their birthdays will never again be uncelebrated. Easter Basket Distribution
In our effort to positively impact the lives of the children we serve, on April 17, 2022, we intend to distribute over 1000 Easter Baskets to children throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. We believe that creating a positive experience for children is necessary for helping to combat the adverse impact of emotional trauma caused by domestic violence and or housing insecurity. We owe it to children and families residing in our community’s homeless and domestic violence shelters to ensure that they have a memorable Easter and create traditions of their own.
